MoRTH allows Sale and Registration of Electric Vehicles without batteries

The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) has allowed registration of electric vehicles without pre-fitted batteries. In an advisory to Transport Secretaries of all the States and UTs, Union Road Transport & Highway Ministry  has clarified that vehicles without batteries can be sold and registered based on the type approval certificate issued by the Test Agency. Further, that there is no need to specify the Make/ Type or any other details of the Battery for the purpose of Registration. However, the prototype of the electrical vehicle, and the battery (regular battery or the swappable battery) is required to be type approved by the test Agencies specified under Rule 126 of the Central Motor Vehicles Rules, 1989.

Union Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has issued new guidelines for Unlock 2 to open up of more activities in areas outside the Containment Zones. The new guidelines will come into effect from July 1, 2020, the process of phased re-opening of activities has been extended further. The new guidelines, issued today, are based on feedback received from States and UTs, and extensive consultations held with related Central Ministries and Departments.

Free food-grain distributed to 68.80 lakh ration card holder families registered under NFSA

For the third time in a row in June state government has started free food-grain distribution from 15th June
So far, 23.19 lakh people benefited from free food distribution in June.
During the lockdown situation, in April and May, 68.80 lakh families under NFSA had been given free food-grains worth Rs.981 crore.
Social Distinguishing Rules are strictly followed during food-grain distribution Process.


Chief Minister Vijaybhai Rupani sensitive approach for poor Antyoday families in the state. Even under Unlock-1, these poor families have been given free food-grains for the third time in a row. 
The Chief Minister has decided to distribute food-grains free of cost for the third consecutive month in June to 68.80 lakh Antyoday families included under the National Food Security Act (NFSA) and priority PHHs in the state.

EXTENSION OF LOCKDOWN UPTO 31 MAY

Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), Government of India (GoI) issued an order, today, under the Disaster Management (DM) Act, 2005,along with new guidelines that are in supersession of earlier guidelines and orders of MHA. 
Lockdown extended upto May 31, 2020
2. The Lockdown measures in place since March 25, 2020 have helped considerably in containing the spread of COVID-19.  It has therefore been decided to further extend the Lockdown till May 31, 2020.

MHA CONTROL ROOM TO BE UTILISED FOR RESOLVING COMPLAINTS/ISSUES OF DRIVERS AND TRANSPORTERS ON PASSAGE OF GOODS CARRIERS INCLUDING EMPTY TRUCKS

In order to ensure faster resolution of the complaints/issues of the drivers / transporters on passage of goods carriers including empty trucks for inter state movement across the country during Locddown, Union Government has decided to utilise the Control Room of Ministry of Home Affairs where officers of the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) are also being deputed for this purpose.

The Control Room Number for the Lockdown of the MHA i.e.   1930 is being made availble for the benefit of Drivers / Transporters to lodge any complaint pertaining to the Lockdown. In addition NHAI helpline number 1033 is also available for National Highway related grievances. MORTH, NHAI, Transport Departments of the States / UTs, Transport Associations will take necessary steps to provide information to the Drivers / Transporters. The officials deputed from MORTH in the MHA control room will assist in complaint/ grievance resolution relating to the Transport sector / Drivers. The MoRTH officials would also compile the daily report on such complaints received

It may stated that movement during the lockdown is governed by the orders and guidelines of the MHA.

 It provides for redressal of complaints by drivers and transporters on passage of goods carriers incuding empty trucks and inter state movement   of the driver / cleaner from their residence to and fro to the truck parking area.

This mechanism is expected to greatly address the issues of hurdles in the movement of goods across States/UTs during the lockdown announced to curb COVID-19 pandemic in India.
