Free food-grain distributed to 68.80 lakh ration card holder families registered under NFSA

For the third time in a row in June state government has started free food-grain distribution from 15th June
So far, 23.19 lakh people benefited from free food distribution in June.
During the lockdown situation, in April and May, 68.80 lakh families under NFSA had been given free food-grains worth Rs.981 crore.

Chief Minister Vijaybhai Rupani sensitive approach for poor Antyoday families in the state. Even under Unlock-1, these poor families have been given free food-grains for the third time in a row. 
The Chief Minister has decided to distribute food-grains free of cost for the third consecutive month in June to 68.80 lakh Antyoday families included under the National Food Security Act (NFSA) and priority PHHs in the state.
Accordingly, the distribution of food-grains started from 15th June from about 17,000 government approved food-grain shops in the state and it will continue to run till June end. The distribution days have been fixed as per the last digit of the card number of NFSA ration cardholders so that this grain distribution system can be done properly.
Under this free distribution of food-grains, till Thursday 18th June, 23.19 lakh NFSA beneficiaries of the state got wheat, rice, sugar and salt and other grains worth Rs.475 crore through government approved fair prise grains shops. 
Chief Minister Vijay Rupani shown sensitivity towards labourers who don’t have ration card and decided to provide food-grains free of cost to these labourers during lockdown. Under this 6.38 lakh labourers had been given rice, sugar and salt during April and May under 'Annabrahm-Atmanirbhar Bharat'.
