Gujarat Government to develop Pirotan Island as a Nature Activities Tourist Centre, to form Bet Dwarka Island Development Authority
Gujarat Island Development Authority at its third meeting with Chief Minister Vijay Rupani in chair here today decided to develop Pirotan Island in the Gulf of Kutch as Nature Related Activities Centre, including corals and bird watching spots. A presentation was made as to how to reach the island between ebb and tide.
It was also decided to form Bet Dwarka Island Development Authority for all round development of the island of great archaeological interest, and develop the Dwarka Industrial Training Institute (ITI) as Marine Skill Training Centre.
Looking to the great tourist potential of the group of islands, the meeting attended by Deputy Chief Minister Nitinbhai Patel, Revenue Minister Kaushikbhai Patel, Tourism Minister Jawaharbhai Chavda, Water Supply Minister Kunwarji Bavlia and Minister of State for Home Pradeepsinh Jadeja decided to get a detailed planning of the Pirotan-Shial Bet-Bet Dwarka belt at a cost of Rs.108-crore by best global experts in the field.
The Gujarat Island Development Authority was constituted in August last year for integrated development of 144-odd big and small islands, called ‘Bet’ in Gujarat, along the 1,600 km long coastline of the state.
Others present at the meeting included Chief Secretary Anil Mukim, Chief Minister’s Chief Principal Secretary K. Kailashnathan, Additional Chief Secretaries of Home, Revenue and Urban Development Departments, Chief Minister’s Principal Secretary M.K. Das and Secretary Ashwini Kumar.
