Punjab police major action against Waris Punjab De, 78 arrested, Amritpal Singh absconding

Statewide action has been taken against Waris Punjab De by Punjab Police. So far 78 arrests have been made and a large quantity of weapons have been seized. To avoid arrest, Amritpal Singh changed his car and ran away. Search has been conducted.

 According to Punjab Police, an extensive cordon and search operation has been launched in the state against elements of Waris Punjab De. So far 78 people have been arrested, while several others have been detained. Several others, including Amritpal Singh, are absconding and a massive manhunt has been launched to nab them.

 Nine arms, including one .315 bore rifle, seven 12 bore rifles, one revolver and 373 live cartridges of various calibres, have been recovered so far during the state-wide operation. Waris Punjab has been implicated in four criminal cases related to creating imbalance between classes, attempt to murder, assault on police personnel and obstructing the lawful discharge of duties of public servants. An FIR of the attack has been registered at Ajnala police station.
